"Transfiguration of Christ" Mosaic - Original

Be a part of the Transfiguration renovation project and hang art reproductions in your own home! Kevin Pawlowski is offering reproductions of his sketches, color studies, and final mosaics as they become available.

All reproductions are printed using the highest quality Giclée method, which ensures they look as close to the originals as possible. Drawings are reproduced on cotton uncoated paper, similar to watercolor paper, and color studies are printed on stretched canvas.

All profits (about 50%) will be donated to the Transfiguration narthex renovation project.

Background on Transfiguration Mosaic Project

Transfiguration has commissioned artists Dale Mulnar of Southlight Studio, and Kevin Pawlowski of Paradise Found Studio to create 6 original mosaic images of for the renovated narthex:

• St. Mary - by Dale
  An image of the Annunciation, the announcement of the Incarnation by the angel Gabriel to Mary.

• St. Joseph - by Kevin
  An intimate scene of St. Joseph and a young Jesus.

• St. Matthew - by Dale
  St. Matthew throwing down his worldly treasure to follow Christ.

• St. Mark - by Kevin
  St. Mark with an image of a lion, the traditional symbol associated with Mark.

• St. Luke - by Dale
  St. Luke is hard at work writing his Gospel.

• St. John - by Kevin
  St. John gazing at a vision of New Jeruselum, as referenced in Revelation 21.

The mosaics are expected to be finished in stages, the first few late 2025, and the rest through mid-2026.

This is a glorious glass mosaic by Kevin Pawlowski. 13 months in the making, over 6,500 ties were hand applied to a 4’w x 5’h structure. The reproduction was created by the artist to best display on a rectangle design. The background is filled with the same cobalt mosaic tiles that wrap the sides of the original.

The design is based on the original San Damiano Crucifix hanging in the Basilica of Saint Clare in Assisi, Italy, but with a Latin American twist. Turquoise, blue and red elements were added, which were inspired by Latin American folk art. This is a nod to Pope Francis, combining the roots of St. Francis with the South American background of the Pope.

“Be Not Afraid”, by Kevin Pawlowski, is a glass tile mosaic that shows a majestic scene of Jesus walking on water toward his apostles. Each tile was hand-glued over the course of 2-months, for a total of at least 6,000 pieces of glass. The composition is based on a bible engraving by Gustave Doré from the 19th century. The original is hanging in the entryway of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Woodstock, GA, but you can have a high quality reproduction for your own home!

“Transfiguration of Christ”, by Kevin Pawlowski, represents a close-up of Jesus' face as his true heavenly form is temporarily shown to the apostles (Peter, James and John) on the top of the mountain. The natural stone making up Jesus' face contrasts with the brilliant colors of the stained glass. Truly a unique piece that will add color to a room and, quite possibly, spark a conversation.
