Commissioned Artwork
Custom project? Let’s talk…
As you look through my gallery, you might like what you see but it doesn’t quite fit your needs. I accept commissioned projects, large and small. It can be a watercolor image of the subject of your choice, a large oil painting to fit your décor, and even a large church installation of a mosaic masterpiece. It starts with a discussion, then a proposal, and finally a quote. No commitment until we both agree on the details.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
-
Cost depends on the type of artwork, size, and subject matter. I basically charge for my time and materials, shipping, and in rare circumstances, extra costs like model fees. Everything will be quoted up front before I get started, so no surprises.
Typically, mosaic artwork is on the expensive side, as in thousands of dollars, as are larger, more involved oil paintings. Oil painting sketch portraits (e.g. of your favorite saint) or graphite drawings are generally lower cost, from $200 to $500.

I accept major credit cards via. the website through a highly secure Squarespace payment portal. I can also accept Venmo payments. You will be quoted the full cost of the project upfront before I get started. Once you accept my proposal, I’ll generally need 1/3 upfront before I begin, 1/3 after you approve my concept drawing, and 1/3 once the final art is approved. If there are any changes to the original concept, I’ll quote you the additional cost (if any) before I continue. I do my best to avoid surprises and make sure you are 100% happy with the final art.

Leadtime depends on the type of art and complexity of the subject matter. I will provide the expected delivery schedule before I get started, and let you know if any delays are expected.
If you are planning to give an oil painting sketch as a gift, plan on 2-months before the occasion. Graphite sketches can generally be turned around more quickly and even ship within week, depending on the subject and my schedule.

I make a point of being very upfront about cost and schedule, and provide drawings for approval before going to far. All of this ensures your 100% satisfaction. Of course, if you aren’t happy with the final product for some reason, I’ll do my best to make it right.

Of course. If the art is of you, a loved one, a beloved pet, etc., I can work from high quality photos. If you have something specific in mind, I can use your image as a reference, or even do what’s called a “master copy”, and reproduce the original artwork as closely as possible.
In the case of a saint portrait, I am happy to do the research myself and provide you options to choose from.
