About Holy Mary, the Mother of Jesus…

Holy Mary, the mother of Jesus, holds a paramount place in Christian theology and devotion. Born in Nazareth to Joachim and Anne, she was chosen by God for the unique and divine role of bearing His son, Jesus Christ. According to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Mary was visited by the Archangel Gabriel, who announced that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit. Her unwavering faith and humble acceptance of this divine message are encapsulated in her famous response, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word" (Luke 1:38). This moment, known as the Annunciation, is celebrated as a cornerstone of Christian faith, symbolizing Mary's obedience and trust in God's plan.

Throughout the New Testament, Mary is depicted as a devoted mother and follower of Jesus, present at key moments in His life, from His birth in Bethlehem to His crucifixion and resurrection. Her presence at the wedding at Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle at her request, and at the foot of the cross, where Jesus entrusted her to the care of His disciple John, highlight her pivotal role in His earthly ministry. In Christian tradition, Mary is also venerated as the first disciple and a model of faith, humility, and maternal love. Her Assumption into Heaven, a belief held by many Christian denominations, underscores her special place in salvation history, as she is honored as the Queen of Heaven and an intercessor for believers. Mary's life and virtues continue to inspire millions, serving as a profound example of devotion and grace.
